Safety And Candle Burning
Tips
- Number one rule. Never leave a
burning candle unattended.
- Keep your burning candles away
from children, pets, and flammable
objects such as curtains, walls, blinds, and hair spray.
- Make sure your candle is on a
flat, non-flammable heat resistant surface to protect your fine
furnishings.
- Keep your candle free of any wick
trimmings, or other foreign matter. Debris in the melt pool will
cause smoking.
- You may develop a carbon buildup
(mushrooming) on your wick, extinguish the candle, and trim the
wick to ¼ inch. This will eliminate the smoking and lengthen
the burn time of the candle.
- Keep your wicks trimmed and keep
the trimmings out of the melt pool! This is very important for
a clean smoke free burn. Many people complain about candles that
smoke and this can be eliminated by trimming the wicks to ¼"
every time you burn the candle. If your candle starts smoking,
simply dip the wick into the melt pool, reposition and relight.
This is true for all types of candles even soy wax candles which
can/do smoke if the wick isn't properly maintained and trimmed
to 1/2". Any candle that has a flame can and will smoke.
Allow the candle to cool before trimming the wick.
- Avoid walking with lit candles.
You could drop it and become seriously hurt from the hot wax or
even cause a fire.
- Keep your candle out of direct
sunlight to avoid fading.
